OAKCREST ORCHESTRA CLASSES
Learn to play the violin, viola, cello or bass
(No Prior Musical Experience is Necessary)
Oakcrest Elementary welcomes 4th, 5th, and 6th-grade students to join the orchestra.
CLASS SCHEDULE:
Tuesday, November 3, 2020, First day of beginning orchestra (4th graders)
Thursday, November 5, 2020, First day of advanced orchestra (5th and 6th graders)
Beginning: Tuesdays and Thursdays (8:15 am to 9:00 am)
Advanced: Thursdays and Fridays (8:15 am to 9:00 am)
- Tuition: $150
- Instrument Rental Fee: $60
- Fee waivers must be approved and submitted to the office prior to attending class.
- The school district has a limited supply of cellos and violas for rent on a first come first-served basis.
- Students wishing to play the violin need to supply their own instrument.
INSTRUMENT SELECTION TIPS:
- Caution—Instrument found on the internet are generally very poor quality, will not stay in tune, and are harder to play.
- I highly recommend taking advantage of a rental program offered by a reputable music vendor such as:

MATERIALS NEEDED FOR CLASS
- Method Book: Sound Innovations Book 1, by Bob Phillips, Peter Boonshaft, and Robert Shelton. Available at Riverton Music
- Rosin
- Pencil
- 3 ring binder for music handouts
- Rock stop for cello and bass
