Serving on the School Community Council
Serving on our School Community Council is a wonderful way for parents and teachers to contribute and help improve academic performance at our school. The school receives an annual dividend from the school trust lands. Our council decides how these funds will be used. The council reviews and prepares other academic plans for our students each year. All plans are reviewed for final approval by our school board. Councils also act in an advisory capacity to school and school district administrations.

School Community Council Invitation to Serve/Participate
The Oakcrest Elementary School Community Council meets 4 times annually. Members of the council serve for two years. The council consists of parents and school employees. The council plays a critical role in the success and direction of Oakcrest Elementary. You are invited to participate. By joining the School Community Council, you can help influence the way funds are spent as we discuss the needs of the school and how to spend money to help students increase proficiency in school, especially in the areas of Language Arts and Math.
Scheduled Meeting Dates
The council voted to meet in the faculty room from 4:00-5:00 PM on the following days:
- September 21, 2026
- November 16, 2026
- January 11, 2027
- March 8, 2027
Qualifications
Every public school in Utah has a School Community Council. The councils are made up of school employees who are elected by employees and parents who are elected by parents of students attending the school. Membership terms are for two years. Elections are held at the beginning of each school year.
Parent members must have a student attending the school for at least one of the two years of their term of service. Employees must be employed by the school district at the school.
